This tour is based in Rocamador an important centre for Christianity ever since the middle ages and official 'Grand Site' of the Midi-Pyrenees region. Rocamadour seems to seriously challenge the laws of gravity. The holy city clings to the steep rocky cliffs at a dizzying height, displaying layer upon layer of houses and chapels, down from the castle which crowns this audacious construction. All around Rocamadour extends the Regional Natural Park of the Quercy, a unique natural environment and a few miles away is the valley of the Dordogne.

Day 2 Depart after breakfast and continue our journey south through the rugged Dordogne countryside, with comfort stops along the way, before arriving in the stunning pilgrimage village of Rocamadour.
Day 3 Free Day - Rocamadour: Named after Saint Amadour, this small village has been a place of pilgrimage since the discovery of his body in 1166, along with the mysterious black Madonna. These sites of discovery are now contained within several churches, carved into the rock and are accessed by a combination of 216 steps known as the grand Escalier. For the less energetic there are 2 lifts taking you between these levels (there is a small charge). Enjoy time at leisure to visit the quaint shops selling local produce and to marvel at the grandeur of the church of Notre Dame.
Day 4 Sarlat-la Caneda and les Jardins d'Eyrignac: This morning we travel to the famous town of Sarlat-la-Caneda. Take time to wander through the winding streets and enjoy the traditional market held on Wednesday mornings. After lunch we continue to the nearby Jardins du Manoir d'Eyrignac, offering an amazing feast for the senses with something to delight everyone. The seven gardens include the beautiful White Garden, the formal topiary sculptures and even a wild flower meadow. Make use of the terrace cafe with its beautiful views before we return to our hotel.
Day 5 Gouffre de Padirac: Today we travel to the nearby caves of Gouffre de Padirac, an amazing labyrinth of 40km of galleries including an underground river. We enjoy a visit to the 2km of caves which are open to the public, descending by lift or stairs to enjoy a guided journey on foot and by boat through this mystical world. There is some uneven terrain.
Day 6 La Roque Gageac and Domme: This morning we follow the direction of the majestic River Dordogne to the picturesque riverside town of la Roque Gageac, home to the local gabares fleet of flat bottom sailing boats. We enjoy a leisurely cruise along the river Dordogne with some fantastic photo opportunities including the imposing Chateau Castelnaud perched high above the river. After our cruise we continue to the medieval walled city of Domme. Wander through the ancient town square and marvel at the views across the valley far below. We return to the hotel in time for dinner and a relaxing evening.
Day 7 After breakfast, we bid a fond farewell to the Dordogne and board our coach for the journey to the outskirts of Paris and our overnight hotel for dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 8 We make our way after breakfast around the Paris paripherique and onward to Calais, with suitable stops on-route, for our ferry to Dover, arriving back in Chelmsford mid evening.
