Day 1 We leave Chelmsford early morning and travel north, with suitable stops on route, crossing the Scottish Border and onto our overnight stop at the Holiday Inn, East Kilbride.
Day 2 After breakfast we continue our journey north travelling up into the highlands of Scotland passing the beautiful Cairngorm Mountains and crossing the Moray Firth to Ullapool for our second night stay. We will make suitable stops on route choosing one of the towns along the way for lunch.
Day 3 This morning after breakfast we take the 10.30 sailing to Stornaway arriving around 1pm. We will have time on arrival to explore the town before making our way to the hotel with time to settle in before our evening meal.
Day 4 Full day with guide to explore Lewis, home to the Callanish stones one of the finest prehistoric sites in Scotland, the historic Broch at Carloway and Blackhouse village, consisting of traditional thatched croft houses giving a tantalising insight into island life.
Day 5 Head south onto Harris to Tarbert, time here to visit the Harris tweed mill before our 11.50 ferry to Uig on the Isle of Skye, as we travel across Skye we visit the Museum of Island life before continuing on over the Skye bridge to the Balmacara Hotel for the next two nights.
Day 6 Travel via the Cullin Hills into the heart of the Isle of Skye to visit Dunvegan Castle & Gardens. Built on a rock in an idyllic loch side setting, Dunvegan is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland and has been the ancestral home of the chiefs of Clan Macleod for 800 years. On display are many fine oil paintings and clan treasures, the most famous being the Fairy Flag. Return to the hotel via more of the islands stunning scenery.
Day 7 Today's journey takes us across Scotland first passing Eilean Donan Castle to Invergarry then onto Fort William. From here via Glen Coe to Crainlarich along Loch Lomond and onto the motorway down to Gretna Green for our final overnight hotel.
Day 8 After breakfast we leave border country and head back into England with time to reflect on the wonderful things encountered during the tour. Stopping on route for refreshments, we arrive back home in the Chelmsford area mid-evening.

Once again Lodges have come up trumps with the Mystery Weekend, it was really marvellous - good food and excellent hotel. Andrew, our coach driver, was very, very caring.
